Description

The album introduces the unique works of Hanna Sobachko-Shostak, Paraske Vlasenko, Yevmen Pshichenko, and Vasyl Dovhoshija, whose art was influenced by the new artistic movements prevalent in the early 20th century, both in European and Ukrainian art: modernism and avant-garde.

For the first time, this publication represents an intriguing period of creative experimentation in early 20th-century Ukrainian art. During this time, folk artisans worked in artistic workshops alongside innovative professional artists such as Yevgeniya Prybil’ska, Nataliia Davidova, Oleksandra Ekster, and Kazimir Malevich. This collaboration inspired new ideas among professional artists and significantly broadened the horizons of folk artisans. It contributed to Ukraine’s artists expressing vibrant individuality, mastering line, rhythm, and color with virtuosity.
